If you’re a Republican are you a conservative?

I will be the first one to say I am a firm Republican, however I do not consider myself a conservative. For instance, I believe in theistic evolution (supreme power started it, then evolution). I believe in giving gays their rights because the issue isn’t going to go away, although I’m still convinced a large majority chooses the lifestyle or have psychological issues (NOT all of them, but a good number…reasoning for this belief is research on society in California during the 49 gold rush days, look it up). I am a huge supporter of increased spending in all areas of education and an even bigger supporter of alternative energy…and I believe in global warming (but NOT complete man made, there are just as many scientists who agree with my perspective as those who don’t, i.e. what happened after the ice age. So I CANNOT STAND how Republicans and Conservatism are always linked together.

You are correct. A republican is not always conservative.
I consider myself a Republican who is conservative in though.
I believe supreme power (God) started life and Adam and Eve populated it from there on.
I believe people who identify themselves are homosexual have all their civil rights and if they want to live together call it something other than marriage. I also believe homosexuality is a choice or a lack of treatment for a psychological issue.
I support education spending long as it is wise.
I support alternative energy, long as there are still the same options we have with oil.
I believe there is global warming/ climate change and that there would still be if we weren’t here or weren’t polluting the Earth, I believe it is natural and comes in phases and we can’t stop it or start it.
I don’t like people saying Bush is a conservative when he is just a Republican.
