I need a science topic and was thinking of doing one on alternative energy fuels.?

I’m not really sure what to do i was thinking of using carrot juice or somthing. But how would i even carryout my experiment? I have been looking for a suitable topic for a long time please help!

That would be a great topic for a science expirement, it is both extremely relevant to today’s current events and interesting. The best thing for you to do would be to simply outline the reasons for switching to alternative energy, and the methods by which we can accomplish making ourselves completely energy independent.

1. Burning petroleum products releases harmful emissions, which cause cancer, global warming, ecosystem disruptions, etc
2. At our current rates of consumption, petroleum is scheduled to run out within the next 100 years, and even if someone discovers a new oilfield, it can’t last forever.
3. The majority of our oil is bought from unstable countries, and we might not remain on friendly terms with them forever.
4. China is growing extremely fast, and will soon begin competing with the US for it’s market share of oil, which will drive prices up even higher.

Outline that, in the past 30 years, Brazil has become completely energy independent through it’s use of ethanol, which is distilled from sugar cane grown on it’s own soil. Ethanol now comprises 20% of it’s total transport fuel market, and that number is on the rise. Combine that with hybrid technology, wind, solar, geothermal, and hydroelectricity, and combine that with the oil reserves we have on US soil, and we may be able to wean ourselves off of foreign oil altogether. In this scenario, everyone wins; the environment, the US economy (we’ll be keeping our dollars at home, where they belong), and of course, the people, in more ways than one. Go on to detail some of the process of distilling ethanol from plant sugars, and explain how hybrid cars work, and the basis of other alternative energy sources, and you should get a pretty decent grade. ; )
