Why don’t we pursue alternative energy sources more, rather than drill, drill, drill….?
I have been reading all over the internet, of the cars and car conversions that can let you run your car on part water, the hydrogen cells, etc.
If this technology is here, then why aren’t we pouring money into this so we can get it more in the mainstream and affordable for all?
I know Bush is an oilman, and really does not care that much, but couldn’t Congress do something? Or all of them controlled that much by the big oil companies?
I mean gas is going to go nowhere but up. It may drop a few cents here and there, but the trend is going to continue carrying it upward. So even drill drill drill, is really not going to affect price that much.
So why can’t anyone in Congress get something going for alternative energy? And pass it quick? Or would Bush just veto anything like that?
Because we have been pursuing these alternative energy sources for 30 years – and they all still need the ‘next breakthough invention’ to become realistically usefull.
Also remember that in 1998 Clinton refused to allow drilling because he preferred alternative energy. It didn’t work, so we need to regard alternative energy as a ‘high risk – high payoff’ investment and be more conservative in looking for ways to fill our short and medium term energy needs.
