Could you live in a Yurt year round?
These are the tents that are reinforced with ribbing and slatted roof, all covered in fabric. I have seen some stories where people live in Yurts year round. They often make a bedroom, or raise a loft inside, then have a kitchen that rival conventional homes with oak and granite with all the normal appliances. Just less energy and cheaper.
I like the ones that have real windows and french doors, some even with a covered front porch. I was thinking you could get three or so yurts and connect them to there you have a living room and kitchen in one, then a bedroom in the second, and then a shower/bathroom with some space allotted for closet and storage space.
I am also curious about hanging plasma tv’s in each yurt being a news junkie. I believe that with solid oak floors could be very cool.

The trick is to increase the number of layers of cloth on the walls- the Mongolians use rugs as hangings. Others could use carpets.
More layers of cloth= more dead air spaces=more insulation.
And if it gets too chilly- dress warmer.
It won’t be so much fun if the plumbing freezes, though…but plumbing can be an option one can do without. (been there, done that, even at 40 below… just not in a yurt)
