The Clean Water Act in 2005? That is the reason I earlier said that Bush and Cheney should be in jail because they use the power of their position to enrich themselves and did a great harm to the country. Please, see the documentary: “Gasland”, it was a PBS special.
@ R: That almost happened to one of our friends up north. They were smart enough to take the contract to a lawyer and the just did not go along with it when they read in the contract that if something happened they will not go to the press with it. So they did not sign. But, some of their neighbors did and their crops are ruined and they cannot use their land for farming any more let alone drinking the water from their well. They also, when they open their water faucets they can light up their water.

They just put in a well on my neighbor’s property. My property value dropped @ 30%: no one will finance property near an oil/gas well because of what drilling does to the groundwater.
“Fracking” is exempted from environmental regulations: they don’t even have to tell us what chemical stew they are pumping into the ground…
