Will McCain support a clean energy future?
His plan seems to heavy on drilling and nuclear – he has little to say about anything else.
Obama supports investing billions in clean energy – to create jobs, protect the environment and free us from dependency on foreign oil. The goal is 10% renewable electricity by 2015, and 25% by 2025. Short-term he supports a windfall tax on oil company profits to help consumers out with the skyrocketing price of fuel.

McCain does NOT support all. He pays lip service to the things he’s consistently voted against in the Senate. He said he would specifically “drill baby, drill” and build 45 new nuclear plants. We currently get a lot of our nuclear fuel from foreign nations.
Nuclear is not clean. What happens to all that waste? Currently, our only storage is at the Yucca Mountain facility. It has to travel by rail and special truck to reach it, passing through city after city exposing all your red state children to possible nuclear disaster. ANd each of those plants costs about $10billion apiece. How does he plan to pay for them with his tax cuts?
Obama supports a comprehensive clean energy plan. This is an unprecedented opportunity for us all to participate in our country’s energy future. He recognizes that drilling oil will not provide any price relief for Americans until at least 2030 by America’s own research. Besides which, oil companies already have enormous leases which they aren’t developing.
Obama plan will channel funding toward CLEAN ENERGY RESEARCH and infrastructure which will provide thousands upon thousands of jobs here at home. Provide incentives for private energy development (household wind or solar power) and for electric vehicle and hybrid purchases.
We have the technology to go to completely renewable sources within ten years so ask yourself who really benefits from passing on the rumors that we don’t have it, or that the way to beat our oil addiction is to drill for more.
Edit: Oh! And republicans who worry about Obama wanting to issue a windfall tax on oil companies should remember that it’s no different than the windfall tax Palin instituted in Alaska during her time as governor.
