Why do so many people think that Carbon Dioxide levels can go higher?

We know that rainfall, marine algae and calcium silicates in the soil remove CO2 within 100 years of emmission. That means that once the rate of emissions peak then atmospheric , CO2 levels also must peak. That is the basis of Kyoto targets etc.. Actual residual CO2 levels represent the previous 50 years of production; a half life thing. CO2 represents a small percentage of total greenhouse effects, water vapour at least 80%. CO2 therefore can only cause at most 2 degrees of warming; period. Nuclear energy and clean coal technology with the usual alternative energies can be expected to actually reduce CO2 warming quite quickly.
Unfortunately planting trees has been shown to simply replace CO2 with other greenhouse gases and has no net benefit for warming. But otherwise we are clearly on track to eliminate what was a relatively minor contributor to global warming and climate change. So why all the fuss? Why do so many people want others to believe that CO2 levels are such a problem?
