Any biology student knows that the sun is the Earths source of life. The sun gives our planet energy in the form of light which is then transferred into chemical energy, via a process called photosynthesis. This chemical energy can be used by each and every food chain or food web. How is this energy changed? By the most important living things on Earth, plants. This rich green vegetation is the only key to unlocking this power source our world solely relies on. By the process of photosynthesis, plants use a combination of carbon dioxide and water to transfer the light energy from the sun with a green pigment called chlorophyll found in the chloroplasts, in the cells of plants. The product of this combination becomes glucose and oxygen, the important gas we breathe in.
