Did We Blow It When We Didn’t Take Jimmy Carter’s Advice?
I realize it is a popular parlor game to trash ex president Jimmy Carter, and some of it is probably deserved, but do you agree that had America paid attention to him WAY BACK THEN and started seriously developing alternative energy sources that not only the U.S., but much of the world, would not still be held hostage by (and having to fight wars over) those countries with oil reserves–and we would have enjoyed not only the moeny our country sends to OPEC and other opportunists around the world, but could have used those savings to fix many of the problems now on our national plate?
I think so, and think we missed the boat that he was trying to put us on. I wonder sometimes if he sits back and wonders, like I do, who the joke was on….him, or all of us, who were convinced by the oil companies and cartels that Jimmy Carter didn’t know what he was talking about.
Carter, as usual, couldn’t see the forest, for the trees when it came to energy production. He curtailed nuclear energy production and instituted silly infective and costly solar energy policies. The road to hell is paved with good intentions. At some point, we have to ask, “What works” not just what makes it look like we care.
